Send Me Your Questions on Sync Licensing!
I'm speaking with a Noah Tauscher, a musician making a living by licensing his music.
I am so excited for an upcoming conversation on When Life Hands You Lennons with a musician that’s killin’ it in the game of sync licensing—and I want your questions. Reply to this email to send them in.
On Thursday, I’m sitting down with Noah Tauscher, a 25-year-old Los Angeles-based musician making his living by licensing his music. To date, his music has been licensed by Netflix, AMC, Fender, and more.
I found Noah on TikTok a few months ago. I watched a few of his videos explaining how he’s making his living off licensing his music to companies like Netflix, AMC, and Fender.
“I just made $7,500 for 30-seconds of music,” he said in one of his videos. There are others where he’s made $9,000! For 30-seconds of music. Whhhaaaaaa!!!?!
As a musician myself who’s building a library of music for sync licensing, Noah seemed to be the perfect guest to answer mine and your questions.
So, before I chat with Noah on Thursday, I wanted to extend the opportunity to you to send in your questions for Noah. Simply respond to this email by Thursday, March 23rd at 12pm PST/3pm EST to have yours considered.
What is sync licensing?
Synchronization licensing, also known as sync licensing, is the process of obtaining permission to use a piece of music in combination with visual media, such as movies, TV shows, advertisements, video games, or other audiovisual productions.
In a synchronization license agreement, the copyright holder of the musical work grants the licensee the right to synchronize the music with visual media, such as a video, film, or TV show. In return for this right, the licensee pays a fee, which is typically negotiated between the parties. The fee ranges between $500 to $100k+! For one placement!
Sync licensing has become increasingly important in the entertainment industry, as music can enhance the emotional impact of visual media and create a stronger connection with audiences. Many artists and music publishers view sync licensing as an important revenue stream, as it provides a new avenue for their music to be discovered and enjoyed by audiences.

I’m really excited for this conversation with Noah and hope that it is helpful to you! I can’t wait to see all of your questions!
